Quockerwodger

Quockerwodger has its roots in the first NaNoWriMo in which I participated, way back in 2005. That project was a complete disaster in many ways–mostly due to my inexperience with plotting novels–and it languished in my files for a number of years.

After re-visiting it and realizing some of it had merit, much was incorporated into other projects: the fairy-land elements found their way to Twinkle Dingle; the “evil step-mother” and “magical girl” tropes became part of “Out of the Ashes“; the fairy-tale and fairy godparent portions became the core of Journey’s adventures; and an elemental-based magic system will be in an upcoming project, “Casting Shadows”. Maybe you can see why the initial “novel” itself was such a mess, with all of these disparate elements. 😉

The only thing left unused from that first NaNo project was the story of a princess and performer (actor in the original, acrobat in this version) who fell in love. To avoid spoilers, I will say only that the characters evolved in ways I didn’t originally anticipate; but stripped of the other story elements, a new conflict was necessary–and given the current state of affairs in the world, this is the story that needed telling.

I hope you enjoy this story preview, which you can find here. If you do, please consider joining my Patreon–the entire story is available exclusively to my Patrons.

Happy Pride month!
